Three Laws To Live By

Charlton Heston as Moses in The Ten Commandments
I am part of a men's Bible study group at my church. This week's lesson was about the concept of heaven. I don't really remember how the materials managed to swing this way while talking about heaven, but one of the questions that we had to answer went something like, "Name some rules that you often impose on others." I thought about it for a bit and then they came to me. They are universal and they are comprehensive.

Here are my three laws to live by:

I. Don't be stupid.

II. Don't annoy me.

III. Don't cause me stress.

Really and truly, it could probably be one rule. Numbers two and three basically offer greater elucidation on the first one.

Please obey these laws. I don't want to have to hurt you.

That is all.

You are so funny, although I don't think you are joking here :)

My rules that actually IMPOSE on others...ummmmm.....

1) Wipe the toilet seat when you miss - I don't want to sit on a wet seat. (this comes from living in a house where the girls are outnumbered 2 to 1... I've totally given up on asking them to actually LIFT the seat before they go)

2) If the pets/chickens are hungry, none of the humans get to eat.

3) And, most important...Don't sweat the small stuff - relax and let it go and focus on what REALLY matters.

While my rules #1 and #2 require constant reminders by me to the offenders, rule #3 is the one I mostly live by. Life is too short to go through it worrying about the stupid stuff...

Hopefully we'll get a chance to swing by the Nativity display next weekend.

Um... no, not joking! ;-) Granted, I impose these laws but, alas, lack the jurisdiction to enforce them, but one day, one sweet day! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Yours are good too. Yeah, I think you are fighting a losing battle on the toilet seat thing. I think we learned that one, but I had never heard of the "put the seat back down when finished" rule until college.

Hope you are able to make it out next weekend!
