This Should Be Interesting

California Braces For TerminatorCare

Well, here's our chance to see if Universal Health Care (a.k.a. socialized medicine) will work. Governor Achnahld is pushing for it in the state of California. I have heard tell that if California were a sovereign nation it would have the 10th largest economy in the world. Here is a good experiment then to see how the US would fare under Hillarycare or some other version of socialized medicine.

We should be able to see if it has a negative impact on the economy. Based on Reaganomics, there should be a negative impact. Businesses are being forced to participate and the measure would involve a sales tax increase. These factors will reduce revenue and lead to reduced spending to grow business. We should also get to see how much a drain illegal immigration is on the system. From articles that I have read, Los Angeles and its environs are already struggling under the weight of the illegal population's drain on public services, education, and medical services.

My prediction? Within 10 years taxation in California will be unbearable and will be forced to increase ever more as people move out of the state to avoid the unreasonable taxes. The enconomy will flounder under the weight of the insurance costs, taxes, and loss of skilled labor. The prices for medical treatment will skyrocket due to supply and demand economics - thus increasing insurance rates and thus triggering additional load to taxpayers and employers. I also predict much longer waits for treatment and the rationing of treatment. People will have to leave California to receive the treatment they need due to backlogs caused by the new system.

Sound unreasonable? Well, that is what is happening in nearly every country in the world with socialized medicine. California and (if we are stupid enough to allow it) the United States will be no different.
